Call Forth a Quality: Honoring the Equinox

Friends,

equinoxI hope this finds you well and you had a restful and relaxing summer. My hope for the Summer was to take time for myself and slow down a bit. Fortunately, that intention unfolded and I was able to incorporate much of what I love to do over the past months; travel, paint and just sit on my front porch.

The Autumn Equinox arrives on Saturday, September 22 and heralds the balance between the light of day and the dark of night. I love using these natural signposts as a way to remind myself to focus my thoughts on what I would like to create in the coming season. Sometimes, I simply choose a word I want to call forth and focus on how its qualities can affect my life. In the past, I have used gratitude and resilience. My word for this season is listen.

Creating an intention at an auspicious time such as the Autumn Equinox intensifies the likelihood it can be attained. What quality would you like to invoke this season?

New Workshop: Yoga for Inflammation

Sunday, October 7 and January 20

Inflammation in the body is a natural process of the immune system responding to infection, injury, stress, and more. Caring for the body and mind through yoga and breathing and reducing stress, can protect against chronic inflammation. This workshop will incorporate postures and methods that will stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system (the calming influence), which can reduce the body’s stress response.  In addition, you will learn about the Relaxation Response and how yoga, meditation and breath can elicit a resting state that has a proven effect on inflammation in the body.

This workshop is designed for all levels and is open to anyone with auto immune diseases, allergy or asthma, celiac or other chronic inflammation disorders.
