As the festivities and celebrations of Hanukkah, Kwanza, the Solstice and Christmas come to a close, I would like to invite you to take a few moments to reflect on the past year and explore the journey you have been on.
Often after the holidays, we are looking ahead to what the upcoming year will bring. At the same time, the journey of the past year is drawing to a close, a new year is ahead; an ending and a beginning, simultaneously in our awareness. It is the end of one light cycle and the start of a new light cycle.
As 2018 comes to an end, I am exploring all the ways in which I have grown and changed for the better, and all the ways in which I still need and want to change. This year, I want to honor what I have accomplished, what I have completed, and what I am proud of. In the past, I would greet the New Year recalling everything I had not done, not completed or failed in some way. I decided to make a change. Too often, I overlooked the good things that occurred over the course of the year and only focused on my challenges and disappointments.
Bringing our awareness to how we have grown and what we accomplished over the past year will provide an opportunity to honor the end of this year-cycle and greet the New Year-cycle with curiousity and delight. Look back for a moment. Reflect in peace. Then let this year draw to a close. When the New Year begins, welcome a new adventure!
Wishing you peace and joy as you close 2018, and a beautiful adventure full of light, peace and good health in 2019!
